Leukocyte Leapers
Story
The Leukocyte Leapers (Rachel and Louise) have been brought together by cancers affecting white blood cells to support research so that others may benefit.
Rachel is a two-time Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML) survivor, first diagnosed in 2004. She received several rounds of chemotherapy, radiation therapy and a bone marrow transplant from mum Jenny. 12 years later Rachel relapsed and again underwent treatment, receiving a stem cell transplant. Rachel is currently doing really well! Having experienced firsthand how far medicine has advanced she cannot emphasise enough how important medical research is.
Louise's cousin Christine was diagnosed with Myeloma a number of years ago, and has inspired family and friends with her resilience, courage and faith. Through years of treatment, Christine has always put others ahead of herself, and her sense of humour has never failed to provide a joke or to lighten the moment. Christine has inspired Louise to fundraise to support vital research into blood cancer of all types.
Together, we've decided to take the plunge and abseil down Wrest Point to raise vital funds for the Royal Hobart Hospital Research Foundation.
Please support our efforts by making a secure online donation and by posting a message of support
Donations made through this platform are secure and will be remitted directly through to the Royal Hobart Hospital Research Foundation.
Thanks so much for supporting medical research in Tassie!

The Research Foundation is an independent entity, raising funds for local health and medical research in Tasmania.
Since establishment in 1997, through the generosity of the community, the Foundation has invested over $8m in funding for research that is of particular relevance to diseases and disorders which per capita are more prevalent in Tasmania.
Several current and recent research projects include investigation into various forms of cancer, Cystic Fibrosis, asthma, diabetes, Jack Jumper research, Vitamin D, oxygenation of pre term infants and predicting recovery following brain trauma to name just a few. The RHH Research Foundation has also appointed eight post-doctoral research fellows to undertake significant investigations into conditions including Parkinson’s disease, Cystic Fibrosis, general respiratory disease, haematology and Multiple Sclerosis on a full time basis.
As an independent entity, the Foundation relies on the corporate and general communities for its fundraising.
